The term “renewable energy source” refers to energy sources that do not rely on fossil fuels and are fed by renewable sources. In particular, these include wind, solar (solar thermal and photovoltaic), geothermal, ambient, tidal, wave, and other ocean energy sources, hydropower, and energy derived from biomass, landfill gas, sewage treatment plant gas, and biogas.
