In revenue management, a forecast is a prediction of a hotel’s future performance. In addition to a reliable evaluation of historical data, continuous market analysis with regard to future developments is also necessary for targeted positioning and an efficient pricing strategy.
The forecast extrapolates previous booking figures and predicts the results for the period. The forecast takes into account factors such as trade fairs and conferences at the location, holiday and public holiday dates, booked events at the hotel and existing corporate contracts. Based on experience and previous year’s figures, it highlights how the period is expected to develop. The forecast is also used to align operational processes with regard to personnel and demand planning.
